Scrapbooking Your Goals for the New Year | Debbi Tehrani
As the year comes to a close, it's natural to reflect on what we've accomplished and start looking ahead to the new year, and a scrapbook page is a wonderful way to document your reflections and goals. The January Fox Box Plus was perfect for the layout I had in mind.
Please note that I scrap 8 x 8, so products look larger on my pages.
Last year, I retired after teaching for 32 years, and I had so many goals and dreams. Just before I captured my goals on this layout. It was time to revisit those goals. I had a lot to say about them, so I journaled on the back of my layout (I'll share that journaling at the bottom of this post if you're interested in reading it).
I used Vicki Boutin's new Discover + Create collection, which seems tailor-made for the January Fox Box Plus. I started with the jar die-cut, which I thought would be a great embellishment to hold the beautiful title Perspextive. Some baker's twine with a dangling charm tied around the mouth of the jar added fun texture and dimension to the die cut.
Before going on with the detail shots, I'll tell you the gist of my journaling. Basically, I came up with intentional steps to ensure that I'll make more progress toward the goals I had set on my pre-retirement layout. I carefully selected the details I included on my layout to help to tell this story.
Before adhering my photo and embellishments to the page, I used the awesome Fox Cut stencil included in the January Fox Box Plus to add the ink splashes. Not only does this stenciling add interest to the background, but it symbolizes the messiness and work it will take to meet my goals. I chose the background paper because a lot of the phrases matched what I am trying to do with my life in 2024. The scissors reflect this work too because I'll need to cut out some old habits, and how perfect is the "new beginnings" Paper Snips in the Fox Box Plus! I just love it when I can find the perfect phrase embellishments to tell my story!
I created a pretty border at the top by cutting a strip of the orange paper, tearing the blue paper using the Torn Edge Border Template, which is seriously one of my favorite tools, and punching circles out of a green patterned paper.
I added pencils to my bouquet to symbolize writing a new story in 2024, and I chose the "no ordinary day" Paper Snip because of my plan to be very intentional and to include in my schedule all of the things that are important to me each day.
I picked out butterflies from the Vicki Boutin collection to symbolize a transformation next year. The Butterfly Trail Fox Cut Stencil #67 adds interest and movement to the butterfly. If you don't have these Blending Brushes, you'll want to get a set because they're perfect for the fine details that are on so many of Bramble Fox's beautiful stencils. I used pop dots to lift the butterfly wings. I picked the "It's all good stuff" Paper Snip from the Fox Box Plus because all of my goals are important to me and will make my life better. The tiny arrow from Arrows Galore was a perfect detail for drawing attention to my hidden journaling.
The January Fox Box has three tabs, which are all versatile embellishments. I love this "Take Note," which sort of has a dual purpose of indicating both importance and the fact that I included journaling. I love the beautiful matte finish of this piece.
I added a die-cut to the bottom border that speaks to the intentionality with which I want to go through my days in 2024, and I emphasized the message with a tiny arrow from the Arrows Galore pack.
Finally, here's a picture of my journaling, which I adhered to the back of my layout.
I love the artistic process of creating layouts, but sometimes it's important to document the important stories of our lives through words. The January Fox Box is perfect for this purpose. If you haven't yet subscribed to the Fox Box, you'll definitely want to do it now, as the January Fox Box Plus is so versatile and creative. Here are some close-ups to se e what's inside the Fox Box Plus.
And if that weren't enough, click here to read all the other perks that come with the subscription.
I hope I've inspired you to get those stories recorded on your layouts, even if the journaling is hidden. Please be sure to share your creations and your stories with us by tagging us on Instagram and by adding your creations to our Bramble Fox Friends Facebook Group.
Until next time, have fun scrapping!
