Little Things: An Easter Layout Using a 5-Photo Sketch

Debbi Tehrani

Easter pictures are so fun to scrapbook, and the April Fox Box is full of sweet delights to decorate your Easter pages--but the kit is versatile enough for just about any topic! I used a Bramble Fox sketch as inspiration to scrap these five adorable photos of my niece-in-law and great-niece.

Here's a look at the sketch I used. In case you don't know, the Bramble Fox Friends Facebook Group has tons of sketches and great challenges to spark your creativity!

I started by picking out some patterned papers in Easter colors that would go with the Bramble Fox products I wanted to use. Next, I stenciled the edge of white cardstock using the awesome stencil #115 that came in the Fox Box Plus. I think it's supposed to be raindrops (I used it as raindrops on this layout), but I thought the shapes almost looked like carrots, so I used texture paste tinted with orange watercolor paint to match the carrots I cut from the Paper Snips (also in the Fox Box Plus).

How lovely is that title? I wanted to be sure to include the journaling that came from my niece-in-law's post, so I printed it out, cut a tag shape, and popped it in a pocket (made from Pocket Zip Fox Dies #13) that was the perfect spot to place the title. Those carrots are from the Paper Snips, and I stitched them to the pocket before stitching down the other three sides of the pocket.

In addition to the Paper Snips in the April Fox Box Plus, I used three other sets of Paper Snips: Florals Paper Snips 039, Lively Paper Snips 026, and Spring Paper Snips 021. I made a cluster in the bottom left using these Snips. Adding Epoxy Stickers to the circular elements of Paper Snips is a fun way to make a flair, giving your layout an extra texture and a little shine!

Speaking of texture, I love including different textures on my layouts, and the Woodie Wordfetti in the April Fox Box were perfect for introducing a new texture and adding a subtitle.

How fun and festive is the banner from the Paper Snips in the April Fox Box Plus? I added another cluster under the title. And seriously--how cute are the bunnies?

I added another cluster in the top right and a second Wordfetti above the right strip of pictures. The black title really stands out against the Easter Pastels, so I knew I needed to add some more black to my layout for cohesion. I found a black bracket Perspextive that fit the bill.

On the left-hand photo strip, I added a tag topper from the Office Elements Fox Dies #22. I tucked a black journaling card behind the photo strip for an extra layer and also to form a visual triangle with the other black elements. As always, I had to add a heart or two to my layout since I'm giving it away. I used a black heart from the Monchrome Hearts pack and some pink ones from the Hearts Galore pack. A woven fabric tab from my stash added another texture, and my final addition after leaving my layout overnight before calling it done (a tip I highly recommend), was the pearls-- another texture.

The April Fox Box is just waiting for you to scrap all your spring photos! I hope my layout inspired you with some fun ideas for next month's Fox Box.

Be sure to check out all the other new goodies in the shop.
