Lighthouse Cut File Scrapbook Layout | Debbi Tehrani
Bramble Fox's Lighthouse Cut File, paired with the August Fox Box, is the perfect combination for summer and beach layouts. I used a title piece, crab Perspextive, and Paper Snips from the August Fox Box Plus, along with a bunch of other Bramble Fox Goodies to create this fun layout.
The "Summer Shenanigans" title and the whimsical crab embellishment led me to choose these two silly photos of my British friend who came to visit me in Maryland and I having a crab feast at the Chesapeake Bay--a must if you ever visit Maryland.
Please note that I scrap 8 x 8, so products look larger on my layouts.
I turned to the Scrapbook Ideas Volume 2 book to find a sketch that would work with my photos and chose this sketch. I contemplated using a great big S on my layout but then remembered the Lighthouse Cut File and decided I could use that in place of the A. If you've never tried Bramble Fox cut files, you must! They cut like butter and include interior pieces so you don't have to do all that tracing and cutting.
I started out by creating my background using the Scallop Background Fox Cut Stencil, which looks a lot like waves, with Weathered Wood Distress Oxides. I used the Sunburst Fox Cut Stencil #17 to create rays that would shine out of the lighthouse. Of course I had to add a seagull from the Flock of Seagulls pack, another must-have for your stash.
Here's a peek at that cute crab! How sweet is the etching? I added some phrases from the Paper Snips to the base of the lighthouse.
Instead of stacking the photos one above the other, like in the sketch, I placed the overlapping at angles to accommodate their size on my small 8 x 8 page. How awesome is that title. I love the mix of fonts and the summery yellow!
I added layers to the photos by mounting them on two patterned papers, tucking in a label and adding the tag tops from the Office Elements Fox Dies. Some twine and a metal charm add some interest and texture to my layout. The phrases on the photos are from the Paper Snips in the August Fox box Plus. I thought the Paper Snips perfectly coordinate with the colors in the Echo Park Summer Vibes collection I used.
I replaced the side border from the sketch with a border along the bottom--torn paper to resemble a sandy beach and then added some shells and starfish, some from the Paper Snips in the August Fox Box Plus, some metal charms from my stash, and a translucent starfish from the Teeny Fish pack. I added some glue beneath the shells and sprinkled some sandy-colored embossing powder to resemble real sand.
I had so much fun creating this page. I hope I gave you some inspiration for using the August Fox Box. If you haven't subscribed yet, what are you waiting for? The August Fox Box ships on August 4.
