Guest Designer | Niki Rowland

Niki Claire is our lovely guest designer this week. Niki's layout features the Ready to Learn Perspextive and Like a Boss flair and her signature style of sprinkling little details and lots of love into her pages.

Hi All, I'm Niki, 34 years old and I live in St Albans with my husband Ben and our two little crazies, Sophie and Max. I teach scrapbooking classes locally in St Albans and teach at scrapbooking events. I'm a co-owner of GoGo Getaway, who I teach and design for. I also design for Just Nick, Hey Little Magpie, Silhouette UK, UK Scrap Addicts, Freckled Fawn and Stick it Down. I love to play with pretty paper and make beautiful things. I drink coffee and eat shortbread biscuits and listen to audio books while I'm creating because multitasking is where it's at.

In my 'spare' time I also childmind so my house is a very busy one but I wouldn't have it any other way. I really really love pretty paper. I'm delighted to be a Guest Designer for Bramblefox.

Niki shares some background around her creative process for this layout.

I started this layout by cutting my long title on my Silhouette using an alphabet by Just Nick, and then backfilling the open part of the letters with one of the papers from the Turn the Page collection by Paige Evans. I wanted to tell the story of my little boy starting school so the title 'Hello Reception' was my starting point and the Bramblfox Perspective 'Ready To Learn' went perfectly with this theme (although I'm not entirely convinced that he is quite ready to learn lol).

I have no problem scrapping my boy in non-traditional boy colours but for this layout I had quite a few blue and green bits from the Turn the Page collection that I thought would work well so I pulled out all the papers and embellishments from the collection that coordinated. Once my large title was in place and I had added my photos I could start having fun with the embellishing, my favourite part of scrapbooking.

The Ready to Learn Perspective was perfect so I got that in place early on. I also loved the 'Here's to new Adventures' sticker from the Turn the Page collection. I then added in lots of little bits and pieces and also two flair badges from the Bramblefox 'Like a Boss' Fun Flair set. Initially I had thought this set to be quite girly but these two flair 'Dream Big' and 'Born to be Wild' (he is totally wild!) went really well, both the colours and the sayings and were perfect additions to this layout.

I finished off with some machine stitching and handwritten journaling.

Thanks Niki!

Look out for Niki's second layout later in the month or check out her blog: Being Scrappy.

Thanks for stopping by.
